This is our third and final wine in this series of 100% Syrah wine from the Rocks District within in the Walla Walla Valley AVA. We are know 2020 was a little strange, but this vintage and wine was divine. When we originally sought out fruit from the “Rocks” this was the vineyard we wanted to work with. They were fully booked in 2019, which allowed us to exercise out creativity with other sites, but 2020 gave us our chance. We chose blocks of both vertical fan and goblet style beer capture the full spectrum of Stoney Vine Vineyard Syrah. Although heat accumulated late in the summer, we held in there for things to cool off, and picked at the beginning of October. The result of the two blocks and the extra hang time delivered what we were after. A bright, condensed dark ruby in color, packed with savory notes of herbs, black olive, white pepper, along with wet stone and funk that this region is known for. It spent a short 10 months in neutral French oak and the last 18 months in bottle prior to release.
