MMXIX - 2019

Seen across the entire state, the uncommonly long winter delay bud break and bloom and was a recurring theme all year.  As summer temperatures were cooler, going into fall we began to play a bit of roulette with weather, and held firm to allow fruit to hang as long as possible for maximum flavor without the sacrifice of quality.  Where Red Mountain is known as hot and harsh region that results in smaller, thick skinned tannin loaded fruit, this year allowed for the a bit more balance that really came through in the wine. This vintage leads with dark cherry, black and blue fruits, with hints of cardamon and baking spices.  It is also composed of 100% Shaw Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon having spent 26 months in French oak (50% New, 50% Used) and the last 20 months prior to release in bottle.
