As we noted with some of our other wines of this vintage, this was a cooler start with a delayed bud break, that was followed by a warm May and a cooler June. The cycling between warm and cool was certainly the theme of the year, and resulted in a sizable crop with larger than average berry and cluster size that can be beneficial to offset the dense tannins typical of the Red Mountain region. The resulting wine is bright with acidity, cranberry, raspberry, currant and cocoa flavors with brush of desert sage. It is composed of 100% Shaw Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 22 months in French oak (60% New, 40% Used) and the last 3 years prior to release in bottle.
